Using OWD’s discounted rates, you’ll ship on our account. We will bill your credit card for the freight.
We have simple guidelines for you to prep your product. Easy instructions will be provided.
None, as long as you use our accounts to ship your products to us. It’s the only way we have of knowing what’s on its way to us.
OWD does. We’ll determine if your products go in a box or a poly bag.
The only minimum we have is for storage: 1 cubic foot per SKU minimum. 
The carrier’s are quite sneaky. They add-in all sorts of “assessorial fees” after the product has shipped. We wanted to make life simpler, so we averaged the cost of shipping into a flat rate. It seems counter-intuitive, but it’s cheaper than regular zone-based shipping. It gives our clients predictable, inexpensive shipping and gives us reduced complexity. A win-win.
No. Many clients use a single OWD fulfillment center. If you choose OWD’s Single-Point fulfillment option, your flat rate postage rate will increase to reflect the increase in average delivery distance.
You do. In OWD’s Multi-Point Fulfillment service, orders will ship from the OWD fulfillment center closest to the customer. If inventory isn’t available in the closest fulfillment center, the order will ship from the next available fulfillment center. The client is 100% responsible for maintaining adequate inventory levels in all three OWD facilities. 
When an order is shipped from a “next available” fulfillment center, the postage rate will be adjusted to reflect the change in delivery distance.

Understanding Single Point
and Multi-Point Fulfillment

Learn more about the pros and cons of two excellent OWD fulfillment options.

Single-Point Fulfillment

Some clients, both large and small, use only one OWD fulfillment center for these reasons:

  • High number of SKUs;
  • High order variability;
  • High number of items per order;
  • Avoid cost of shipping inventory to multiple sites;
  • Avoid cost of complex inventory management;
  • Avoid splitting orders due to stock-outs;
  • High return volume.

In short: The complexity and cost of managing returns and distributed inventories isn’t worth the faster delivery time of a multi-point strategy.

A small merchant may choose single-point fulfillment because she has limited inventory. Or, her business might be moving so fast that she needs the simplicity of a single-point solution.

The downside of single-point fulfillment is slower delivery time to Zones 7 and 8. In reality, most orders arrive in about five days, even with the most inexpensive ground service.

Of course, you can always upgrade any order to an expedited method. OWD offers every delivery method from Next Day to International.

Multi-Point Fulfillment

If 2-Day inexpensive ground delivery is your biggest concern, then multi-point fulfillment might be right for you. OWD’s three fulfillment centers cover 98% of the U.S. in two days. (Sorry, Custer County, Montana, it’s three days for you.)

Successful multi-point fulfillment clients have these characteristics:

  • Small number of SKUs;
  • Low average order quantity;
  • Low order variability;
  • Small items cheaply shipped to multiple sites;
  • Customers’ buying trends are known;
  • The inherent complexities of multiple inventories are understood;
  • Low number of returns;
  • Plentiful inventory in all locations.

The multi-point client typically has a small catalog and only sells a single item or two per order.  They don’t have a lot of returns.

There are exceptions, a complex client with thousands of SKUs and high order volume may decide that 2-day delivery is worth the trade-off and complexity.

As for pricing, it’s always predictable.

OWD’s all-inclusive Returns service provides simplicity and high-end customer service. OWD includes a pre-printed return label as part of your packing slip. Your customer need only drop it in the mail.

What’s included: packaging slip with return label, QC inspection, re-bag, re-tag and return to stock. What’s excluded: postage cost, poly bags and any special packaging.

International Shipping

The old way to ship internationally

DDU means Delivery Duty Unpaid – where the buyer pays for all of the import fees at delivery.

Unexpected import fees give buyers sticker shock – not good. When they refuse to pay, you’ve lost a sale and must pay to return your product, or abandon it.

DDU is an old idea whose time has passed. For these reasons and more, OWD doesn’t recommend DDU for e-com sellers.

The best way to ship internationally

DDP is an acronym for Delivery Duty Paid. DDP means that the seller pays for all the duties and import fees.

With DDP, your customers won’t be surprised with unexpected customs charges – good!
